JUDSON THEATRE COMPANY EDUCATION PROGRAM

Judson Theatre Company offers many educational initiatives, including:

High school students fill Owens Auditorium to see TWELVE ANGRY MEN

STUDENT PERFORMANCES:  For each production, up to 700 Moore County Schools high school students, from all three public high schools and all ethnic and economic demographics

–attend a performance of the show (for many it is their first time experiencing live professional theatre)

–receive the published script or book the play is based on (i.e. Twelve Angry Men, And Then There Were None, The Miracle Worker)

–receive a professionally written study guide (funding permitting)

–engage in guided classroom study prior to attending the performance

–participate in a Q&A with the cast after the performance

For each student performance, hundreds of books are purchased and donated to MCS for classroom study and student use. Donors are acknowledged with bookplates inside the books they fund.

This collaboration between Judson Theatre Company and Moore County Schools brings literary classics with educational and cultural relevance to life for Moore County public school students. We are able to make these student performances available at no cost to the MCS public high school students thanks to our sponsors.

INTERNSHIPS: For serious-minded high school and college age students considering a professional career in the arts, Judson Theatre Company is the bridge between their academic training and real-life professional work experience in all areas of theatre. Interns gain star-driven play credits that will remain on their theatrical resumes for years to come; references/letters of recommendation may also be available for exceptional interns. Interships involve a major time commitment. All interns receive a modest stipend upon successful completion of the internship.

Recently, our Stage Management intern Jacora “Koko” Watkins (Plaza Suite, Harvey, On Golden Pond) was profiled in PineStraw magazine’s May 2016 issue (p. 75) CLICK HERE TO READ
